World Water Day 2022

Today is World Water Day, and, in the primary classroom, a perfect time to raise awareness amongst children about everyone's need for clean water.

With the climate crisis, the world is all too quickly discovering that, very often, countries either have far too much water - flooding, or far too little - droughts.

Many years ago, we wrote  a musical called the Lonely Dragon. Entwined with a magical story about Alice, a sad little dragon in need of a friend, the musical sensitively encourages thought about loneliness, bullying, and our human need for friendship. But throughout the story, through story and song, it cleverly emphasises the importance of water to all life on earth.

The Lonely Dragon musical is perfect for younger primary children, perhaps especially during the spring and summer terms - and around World Water Day. It supports SDG6.

The complete musical is available here, as a read-aloud story in e-book format here, and one song, Nothing Else Will Do, has been taken from the musical and can be downloaded here! It's highlights everyone's need for water, and is perfect to sing or listen to on World Water Day!
